Description

The pinnacle of the original muscle car era was considered by many to be the 1970 model year. The Mopar B-Body platform supported the bulk of the Chrysler model offerings. The Plymouth Division based five models on the B-Body including the Road Runner. The GTX was the up market model that combined luxury features with big block performance. This 1970 GTX is a numbers matching example that features the 375 horsepower 440 cubic inch 4-barrel Super Commando V8 fronting a TorqueFilte three speed automatic and Sure Grip rear end. This car also benefits from a few upgrades, specifically its been converted to power steering and power assisted braking with front discs; rear coil overs are in place of the original tube shocks. Originally Dark Green Metallic, this car was refinished in Sunfire Yellow many years ago. The car presents well but the older paint has plenty of scuffs and scrapes. Aside from the mild patina this car is solid with no apparent rust or body panel replacements although a new trunk floor has been fitted. The interior is clean but the front seats have some open seams. All lights and instrumentation, except for the tachometer, are in working order. Otherwise the car runs and drives very well. The car starts easy and idles steady. The engine is healthy and pulls hard and sounds good. The transmission shifts flawlessly and kicks down as it should. Brakes are remarkably predictable and track straight when pressed hard. Steering and suspension have a great feel. This car is equally adept as a boulevard cruiser or stoplight bruiser. Located in Rowlett, Texas this classic Mopar is offered for sale as is where is with a clean Texas title.
